#Git

⌘⇧G opens the Git tool pane — a pane of the grid like any other. It stays with its session until you close it. Everything in it shells out to the git installed on your machine — your config, your credentials, your hooks. Fold never bundles a git of its own.

Drag it by its header anywhere in the grid — beside a terminal, under a file, stacked with Files and Notes — and drag any gutter to resize it. ⌘⇧↩ zooms it like any pane. It opens along the right edge the first time, then where you last closed it.

The pane is made for working with agents: the agent writes the code and the commits, so the pane is for reading what changed, finishing a branch and starting the next one. It has two tabs, Changes and Branches. Push, pull and fetch sit in its head, and a line under the tabs says how far your branch is from main (↑ ahead, ↓ behind). It fits any width you drag it to.

#Changes

  • Conflicts and changes. Every file that differs from the last commit, in one list — there is no staging here. Each row shows the lines added and removed. Click a row to open its diff as a document pane; ⌘-click to open it to the side. Hover a row to discard that change.
  • Commits on this branch. The commits main does not have yet — or, on main, the latest ones. Each shows its author's GitHub picture, or the Claude mark for Claude's. Click one to open the commit.

#Branches

  • Find or create a branch. Type to filter the list. Each branch says how far it stands from main, and a branch in a folder of its own wears a folder mark. When nothing matches, Fold offers to make it: ↩ creates it here; ⌘↩ creates it in a folder of its own and opens a new session there — so a second agent can start while the first keeps going.
  • Update from main brings main's new commits into your branch. Sweep clears away branches that are done.

The instruments' branch fact is the same list, one click away from anywhere.

#Worktrees

Worktrees — one folder per branch, same repository — are created, switched and removed from the instruments' worktree fact; see Workspaces.

#Your account

The account mark beside the gear in the dock shows which GitHub account is pushing; its menu tells signed-out, no gh and unreadable apart, and switches accounts.

#The Files pane's badges

The Files pane colours files by their git status, in the git panel's own colours — the name and its letter blue for modified, green for added or untracked, red for a conflict — and a folder's name takes the strongest change inside it, open or closed. .git is never listed.
